Our Assembly Council met yesterday for the first time after our National Hui. This news update comes from the new Chair of Assembly Council, Kerry Brewerton.

Kia ora Baptist Whu0101nau

It is with excitement that we announce the appointment of Luke Kaa-Morgan to the role of Te Pouarataki mu014d te hikoiu2014Treaty guide, commencing January 2023. This is a significant appointment for the Baptist Support Centre, and we give thanks to God for his faithfulness to us.

This is a two-day per week appointment with Luke already employed one-day with Arotahi (formally NZBMS) and two-days with Carey Baptist College.

Luke brings 20 yearsu2019 experience in pastoral ministry within local Baptist Churches and has been an active contributor to Baptist Mu0101ori Ministries, Manatu016b Iriiri Mu0101ori, for over 30 years.

Luke is married to Marieta, and together, they have one daughter and two sons. Jordyn who is married to Thomas, Levi, and James who is married to Natua, along with 3 mokopuna.

Luke writes: u201cI am honoured to be a Baptist and value the sense of belonging and connection within our whu0101nau as an uri (descendent) of Waikato/Tainui. I am very hopeful for our journey together and the way forward. This is an important time to strengthen our whanaungatanga and covenantal relationships.u201d

Lukeu2019s role is to work in partnership with our National Leader as a member of the Senior Lead Team, providing a Mu0101ori perspective and leadership to the Baptist Union Support Centre in order to best fulfil our commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, The Treaty of Waitangi.

Lukeu2019s leadership will be a tremendous gift to New Zealand Baptists as we continue our Treaty journey together - particularly as we work towards a greater level of partnership with and participation from Mu0101ori within our Support Centre and the ministry and mission of our movement. We are excited about the synergy Luke will bring across Arotahi, Carey, and the Support Centre.

We are so looking forward to having Luke on board with us. We again acknowledge the goodness of God to the Baptist family of churches in New Zealand.

Ngu0101 mihi nui
